A couple of thoughts from the game

- I mentioned a few weeks ago I'd like to see Diaz given a run at RW while Salah was away, and I think he showed against Arsenal he has potential to be the solution there next season (if Salah goes to Saudi) . some good runs in behind, his dribbles looked more dangerous as his natural movement takes him to the byline rather than into traffic, and a great finish on his natural foot. could we see Nunez on the left and Diaz at RW next season perhaps, with Jota or Gakpo through the middle? Of course if Salah stays that's even better, and the Saudi league seems to be losing some of its better players which could yet impact his decision.

- Konate and Gomez have made huge strides this season, Gomez really took Saka out the game and that's a difficult thing to do. I really like how solid he's made our back 4.and Quansah and Connor Bradley look real talents. I'm loving the defensive shape we're working with now and we seem to have done away with the inverted FB for good now (thank goodness) .

Loving Liverpool 2.0!

A few suggestions on how to improve VAR

- Offsides should be run by AI or player tracker technology, with a small margin of error going to attackers advantage. Goal line technology doesn't create any controversy anymore, and I can't believe the tech isn't capable of doing a better job than people at this stage
- give full control and accountability for decisions back to the onfield ref, so they can ref the game real time without intervention, but then give each team has three challenges on critical decisions (eg. goals, penalties, handball, yellow and red cards) just like in tennis or cricket which have far less issues with VaR
- upon a review being called, the ref goes to the monitor and views in real time first, and then a slowmo afterwards if necessary
- Ref can consult with the VAR ref to clarify their views of the event, or if they missed anything, but discussions to be done on live audio so everyone can hear the basis of the decision
- Onfield ref always makes the final call

I think this would make it clear the onfield ref is always the final decision maker, giving clear accountability for mistakes to one person. It would also give some responsibility back to the teams for challenging bad calls rather than whingeing about it afterwards. It's easy to argue should have been a red card etc., but this would make them out their money where their mouth is and own the decision. Key bad decisions would always be reviewed, as there are 22 players on the pitch who know what good looks like, avoiding situations like man Utd/ wolves where VAR refused to intervene. If they don't refer, then it's their fault, not the ref. Decisions reviewed would also be made transparently, on live audio, and I believe people would mostly be fine with subjective calls being made in this manner with a clear explanation why. It would also avoid situations like Curtis's red card, where one ref is overruling another on a 50/ 50 call from a box a million miles away from the pitch, and putting a freeze frame up to justify their position.

Interested in how others would change things?

Congratulations VVD and Becker, awesome to see two out of the four top player awards going to Liverpool players.

Also the first Ballon D'Or for a defender and first from the PL. No small feat, and fully deserved for both after completely transforming our defence and making Liverpool one of the most feared teams in Europe again.

Makes a big change from years past when we'd only look on at Barca, RM, Bayern, Juve and could only dream of playing regularly at their level.

Good times.

Interested in people's thoughts as to how Liverpool should approach the final. My own view is to go aggressive rather than a more balanced approach.

I feel like Tottenham are a very dangerous side and like to press and put sides under pressure, so if we play it too casual there's a risk we lose the upper hand and just give them encouragement. Their players are likely to feel underdogs and like this is a once in a lifetime opportunity so if we let them get their confidence we could make things much harder for ourselves than we should.

I'd like to see us go hard after them from the first whistle and let them know who's boss and try make sure they don't have time to breath. Press high and hard and try to get the first goal early like we did vs Barcelona.

Really good performance and was great to see Mane continue his incredible form and Salah back to his usual.

Only downside is it took me 20 minutes to figure out who was playing CF, why the heck start Sturridge? He was nowhere to be seen. If Firmino is still not 100% against Barcelona then surely has to start Origi at LW and Mane upfront.

Lovely to see Keita continuing his decent form too and Ox back after such a long time.
