Does anyone feel that it is a bad idea for former players to manage the team they used to play for? Of course there has been successful managerial stints for players returning to their former clubs but I feel it puts the board and fans in a difficult spot when it comes to decision making, criticism, being overly optimistic etc. Biggest risk being tarnishing a very positive relationship between club and player through a sacking. Thoughts?
{Ed001's Note - it can be yes. If it works well it is a plus, but it is a major minus if it goes wrong.}

Spot on Ed. Just recovered from my third knee surgery. Takes a good cracking to realize your knee is okay. The mental side of recovery can't be understated. After my second surgery it took me a good 6 months after I was cleared to play to really be myself on the field, especially in the tackle.
{Ed001's Note - some people take years to recover, because not enough is done for the mental aspects. That is why this new research is so important. Hopefully it will help people recover more quickly in the future.}
