It’s the hope that kills you. Almost tempted to stop reading all these rumours. Lavia and caceido would be amazing and sort us for years with the players coming through and who we have. I know it won’t happen, I reckon lavia will alone mind. Caceido is just different gravy. Still would need a lcb to be top level, but that would be the most complete squad we have had i believe.

Complete side point, but how consistent is kostas at corners? Or crossing in general. Attacking wise he is right up there with Robbo this season. I know Robbo has proved it over many seasons but if a player steps up and earns his place it’s arguable he should keep it, no matter who they are keeping out.

Sheffield United didn’t put up the fight I thought they would, but what a professional performance tonight. Not much rotation, but if you play like that, I doubt they exert too much energy which is crucial. Though Gomez was pure class today, looked so at ease, made Van dijk look like the less clam one! Hendo and gini i thought also deserved extra mentions too dominated the midfield.

Oh my days, Conor Bradley. What a performance. He’s on every ball, always touch tight and my god can he play too. Like Gomez on the left, not sure bringing back our ‘main’ full backs is required right now!

Just want to say how good Endo was yesterday, we will for sure miss him. Jones helps us too I think, especially when someone like szobo is in there, allows him to sit deeper and keep the ball moving. Looking a little thin in the middle, next game we have Mac Jones and gravenberch fit it seems, hope szobo is not out for long.

For me, this game just highlights the frustrations I have, in that we always feel one or two short of a squad that can compete on all fronts at the top level. In this case, having no out and out defensive mid is hurting us, and hurting mac allister. Endo is fine as an option, but he’s not that level. Fine to rotate too. But as it goes, szobo is going to have to play every league game this season, along with mac allister, because we just don’t another option. If we want to be in the conversation come the end of the season, we have to act in January, because this squad is great, we have youth, hunger, experience and so much talent. Just need one player to let that talent flourish.

I don’t like to be impatient or spend money for the sake of it, but I can’t believe we haven’t done any business since szobo. Why does it always feel like we’re a couple short.

This might not be the forum for this, but is anyone else getting a little exasperated with football right now? Just seems it’s lost it’s way a bit for me. Things like VAR being useless, or terribly applied at least. Makes it more annoying when a decision is wrong when it’s viewed by a team of people, who all have to make a judgement call, than just mistakes being made in real time on the pitch. Things like the insane amounts of money involved and the powerful just bullying and buying up any decent player in the league (us included in that) . And just the general way the whole game seems to be moving further and further away from the fans, being less accessible with huge tv bills, for average punditry from those who don’t analyse just want to be heard giving controversial opinions. I love Liverpool, and love football, but find myself watching less and less and caring less and less the longer this goes on.
