Any truth in the Kovacic bid by us ?

Good player

Midfield three of Milner, Henderson and Kovacic would be full of energy.

Yeah and that midfield still lacks a proper defensive midfielder a problem which we have been ignoring for years . Either keep lucas or buy someone for that position. Trying to shoehorn allen or can there does not work. Though I'd love to se kovacic sign for us. Brilliant player in the mould of Modric. Him lucas Henderson and coutinho in a midfield diamond. And also sell allen and give Rossiter a chance.

{Ed044's Note - all this also ignores Can. We have one proper DM in Lucas. He may not even be here next season. In which case we have NONE. This whole thing smacks of losing Suarez and buying random forwards. This year we are losing Gerrard, so we'll buy random midfielders. Do the club understand that 'forward' or 'midfielder' or 'defender' are vague terms and don't really address the specifics of what the team need?

Can for me is not a defensive midfielder. Lucas looks se to leave. Of he goes try for a proper DM perhaps Ilaramendi. Not your mascherano type hard as nails guy more of a playmaker in the Alonso mould. Can lacks the positional sense required to play there. Ilara/Lucas holding with Hendo and Can either side

{Ed044's Note - sorry 42 , I was referring to Can in the sense that the OP was saying Hendo, Milner and Kovacic sounded 'energetic', ignoring the fact that Can is also that type of midfielder.Ilaremendi is a good shout. I'm not convinced however that you can have that type of deep lying playmaker without playing a 4 2 3 1 type game with a second deep midfielder a la Mascherano/Makalele who covers the defence and breaks play up ...}

Eds I am surprised that we don't go for players like iturraspe, camacho or andre gomes.And why don't we put players like skrtel and allen for sale?
Instead of allen we can give rossiter a chance who is defensively good.

{Ed042's Note - Those are words which should into a Dear John Henry letter. You have to understand we can't sign every player. Those players are the ones you sign on fifa to replace Gerrard after selling Johnson to Manchester United for 10 million. Not that i have anything like that 😒
